The White House: May 2015

A few weeks ago we celebrated Gabe's first birthday. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend and were so lucky to have both my mom and Derek's parents here to help us celebrate. It is amazing to reflect back on a year ago when we had just moved, a new baby and felt like strangers in this new town. Now at Gabe's party I realize what a blessing this past year has been, we have made such great friends, have a wonderful new home and are loving this town that now feels like home. This party in some ways was more than just Gabe's first birthday, it was a the end of a big year of changes that all have lead to great things for our family. The party was perfect and Gabe was such a trooper through the party. Of course our little piglet LOVED the cake.

The week of Gabe's birthday he started walking, he wasn't fully walking but was trying often and taking up to 10 steps at a time. As of two weeks ago he is a full on walker, and even getting close to running. At his one year appointment he weighed 20 lbs, was 30 inches long and still no teeth! He has learned the sign for eat and pretty much signs this all day. The boy has his daddy's appetite and not sure how we will ever keep him fed once he is a teenager.

Last week Madelyn had her last day of preschool and her last soccer game. We will miss both but enjoying the start of summer with not as crazy of a schedule. She is going to a few YMCA preschool camps this summer and have a lot of friends and family coming to visit. Right now she is very into her birthday and asks often "is it June 18th?" lol! She is having her first real birthday party with her friends and of course wanted a princess themed party!

We don't have any big plans coming up, trying to enjoy the beautiful days before the scorching hot days start and of course still doing the never ending house projects that seem to have taken over our lives.
